Ana Pombo Receives Prestigious Leibniz Prize
Professor Ana Pombo from the Max Delbrück Center has been awarded the 2025 Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize by the German Research Foundation (DFG). Accompanied by a €2.5 million grant, this is one of Germany’s most esteemed research awards.

Berlin and Lisbon together for a big purpose
NOVA University Lisbon and Max Delbrück Center jointly established the NOVA Institute for Medical Systems Biology (NIMSB). Both institutions have developed a shared vision to push the boundaries of precision medicine.
The NOVA Institute for Medical Systems Biology (NIMSB) kick-off meeting took place on the 23rd of October at the NOVA University Lisbon (NOVA) Rectorate and brought together those responsible for the project developed in collaboration with the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC) in Berlin.
NIMSB, officially launched in October 2023, is establishing a team according to its Organizational Chart:
